National Service Scheme (NSS)

National service scheme has been started in the year 1998 in SSMCE with two units including 200 volunteers

For Admission

Objectives

• To develop the personality of SSMCE students through social service,
• To identify the needs and problems in the society in which they can be involved to find out the right solution,
• To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility,
• To apply their education for finding practical solution for individual and community problems
• To practice national integrity.

Activities

• Blood donation
• Plantation
• ocational Training for the village people such as Soap making, Garment designing, screen printing etc.
• Medical camps such as eye checkup camp, dental camp, general health camp etc.
• Yoga & meditation
• Computer Training for rural students and villagers.
• Karate coaching for school children.
• Adventure programs.
• Disaster management.

Achievements

• The village people who have got vocational training during NSS special camps, have been given job opportunities at SSM College of Engineering.
• Organized a National Integration Camp at SSM College of Engineering in the year 2003. About hundred students from various states participated.
• Organized two days training program for the students from various colleges of Anna university Coimbatore at SSMCE on 3rd and 4th April 2009.
• Implementing “SSM PURA” through the young and dynamic students of SSMCE [Dr. Abdul Kalam’s one of the dreams is that PURA (Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas)] is the future mission of NSS at SSM.
